White radish soup with rice.
Kansai (Western Japan) is famous for its particularity of food.
It is our popular topic over some cups of tea to discuss how particular Kansai food habit is.
For example, it is famous that each Kansai family own their Takoyaki cooker while Eastern Japanese rarely do. Kansai family mostly cooks Okonomiyaki at home, Easterns don't.
Sujikon is counted as one of the "soul foods" of Kansai people.
In my personal opinion, not many, but quite a few families stock sujikon.
What is sujikon? It is beef shin (tendon) stew seasoned by soy sauce and sugar. We often cook with konjak.
I like stocking sujikon myself.
Today's lunch is A bowl of rice served with sujikon in white radish soup (chicken soup base) . I added also red bell pepper and some Yuzu pepper.
